The articles of confederation was weak because they were in debt, they had poor decision making, they had trouble raising an army, and couldn't regulate trades. This was because of the American Revolution. This lead to Shays rebellion, because of the economy problems farmers where losing there land and getting sent to prison because they were in debt, as a result of this, the farmers had rebelled against the Debtors court.
