A French chemist, Lavoisier developed a systematic method for naming chemical compounds. Antoine Lavoisier determined the composition of compounds in his experiments. As he identified more and more it became harder for him to memorize all of the names of the chemical compounds, and thus created a system of naming said compounds. His creation is the basis for naming compounds today.
