A controversial mining law which would allow for large-scale, open pit metal mining, has been opposed by days of protest including blockades that shut down highways throughout the country's Southern Andean highlands and Amazon rainforest. protesters were seeking Laws to protect water resources and consultation with indeginous communities over mining projects.
