Rutherford was a chemist and a physicist who impacted the ideas of atomic structure incredibly with his discovery of the nucleus and his proposed model. he completely tossed over Thomson's plum-pudding model in 1911 with his gold-foil experiment. In this experiment Rutherford discovered the nucleus as a very tiny, densely charged center and concluded that atoms are mostly composed of empty space due to his experimental results.
