17 янв 1958 г. - French New Wave
Описание:
The French New Wave involved a group of film critics turned filmmakers during the 50s, 60s and 70s. These filmmakers were Francois Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard, Claude Chabrol, Eric Rohmer, Jacques Rivette, Louis Malle, Alain Resnais, Agnes Varda and Jacques Demy. Between them they created hundreds of films including: Jules et Jim, Eyes without a Face and Les Quatre Cents Coups. The filmmakers showed that they didn't need mainstream studios but that they could make great films on their own. The French New Wave also demonstrated technological changes to film such as long takes, jump cuts and shooting outdoors. They were able to do this because they had smaller handheld cameras which made it much easier to film.
This was very important to the development of TV and film as it made cinema an important art form that people previously thought was for the lower class and failed theatre actors. Although it can no longer be considered 'new' the impact of these directors and their films are still very important. In many was they were the leaders in a new style of film.
