The PlayStation 2 is the best selling console of all time selling over 158 Million units worldwide. It sold over 980,000 units on the first day in Japan. This was due mostly because of the popularity of the PlayStation and the backwards compatibility which allowed PlayStation 1 games to be played on the PlayStation 2.
