The Boston Tea Party took place in the Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773. The Boston Tea Party was a protest coordinated by the Sons of Liberty. The purpose of the Boston Tea Party was to cause Parliament to repeal the Tea Act. The many colonists gathered in Mohawk Indian disguises and dumped 342 chests of tea. This caused Britain to lose £9,659 ($1,700,000) worth of tea. The Tea Act became 'dead letter' after 1778 and was officially repealed on the year 1861.
