Saroo, by this time, had been living in Australia for about 5 years. He grows to love swimming, even with the two near-drowned situations he had on the streets of Kolkata. Swimming in Australia had a much more controlled environment, life guards and pool and all.

Some time later, the family planned a trip back to India. Both the brothers liked the idea; but as the date of the trip edged closer, they both began to get anxious and uncertain. The trip was cancelled, the Brierleys feared that it may stir up deep and dark memories.
