The act was introduced in the Senate an act that would provide conservation and protection of endangered and threatened species of fish, wildlife, and plants.
This was introduced to the Senate by Harrison A. Williams. Harrison A. Williams was a Democrat who was born in New Jersey December 10, 1919, he represented New Jersey in the House of Representatives. He served from January 3, 1959 – March 11, 1982. He proposed the Endangered Species Act most likely because he was concerned about all the animals becoming endangered and extincted like a lot of the people at this time.
