Sir Francis Bacon was the person to discover and popularize the scientific method. The scientific method is first you observe and research, then you make a hypothesis, an experiment is next which you will collect your data from and make sure your experiment can be repeated by someone else, you then should get someone to analyze your information and finally you create a theory or model based on your findings. This discovery was a big step into evolving science because there were many scientists in the past, like Fermi, jumped to conclusions and published his work without going over the work well enough. Fermi took his hypothesis and put it into an experiment and then made a model about his findings. Fermi should have gotten a fellow chemist to look over his data and work then after his fellow chemist looked over his work he should have modeled his work.
