It stimulates antibodies to all 3 types of poliovirus and it also provides protection from polio paralysis by preventing the spread of the poliovirus to the central nervous system. It is an oral vaccine and is inexpensive costing roughly 8 cents a dose but its "live" so it needs to be refrigerated.
