In a coalition led by the US the brutal dictator of Iraq Saddam Hussein was captured. Saddam was widely condemned for his brutality. It is estimated that the total number of people killed by his purges and genocides were up to 250,000. Saddam would be found guilty of crimes against humanity and would be sentenced to death in 2006.
