Whether it was coincidence or not, the timing of Aaliyah's death was doubly poignant. The self-titled third LP showed the former "street but sweet" star how she grew up. Her collaborations with Timbaland gave her songs such as "We Need a Resolution" a sophisticated, innovative touch. Her songs also changed the face of R&B forever. When she died in a plane crash in August 2001, she was on the cusp of something remarkable for the future of Rn'B.
