Thinking that he was sailing to India, Columbus landed in the Caribbean Islands and met the indigenous Taino people.The image shown is a representation of Columbus holding a cross. He was very compassionate about sharing his religion with the indigenous people.
The map shows the Caribbean island that Columbus first sailed to. The islands are now known as the Bahamas.
