Initially, the Fihrids was the rescuer for the Umayyad since they are Arab Muslims from the clan of Prophet Muhammad (saw). It was relief to know the empire did not tarnished and collapsed just like that. The Fihrids family already install their kingdom in north Africa, so they must had experienced to govern such an empire. It seemed as everything is under controlled and they might will turned Iberian Peninsula into their hold.
However, it was no long enough to hide all the conspiracy and embezzlement that happened within the government. The succession of incompetent leader with reason of geneology cause the rebellion of the Berbers. The Berbers had a valid reason to not submit to the ruler because incompetent leader will make unreasonable reason besides, he did not possessed a strong leader’s character and charm. Sooner or later, the kingdom will eventually collapse due to this solely reason. It was proven later in the year 757, the emir in Qayrawan was unable to protect the city from the rebellion of the Kharijites thus lead to the downfall of Fihrids in north Africa. Same goes to the Fihrids in al-Andalus, the assassination of Abd Rahman by his own sibling turned the legacy into family quarrel. It was a great lessons value in Muslims’ history.
