Hafsids were previously divided into two part due to some conflict; one being ruled from Tunis and the other from Bejaïa. However, it was reunified in 1370 by Sultan Abū al-ʿAbbās. The Ḥafṣid state then enjoyed periods of relative stability interspersed with strife.
