Known as "Fury's Big Week," Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, and Thor all take place st the same time. As mentioned in The Avengers, Thor's banishment to earth was roughly a year before the events of The Avengers. Also, as Norse mythology is a real life religion, the beginning of the movie takes place in the very distant past, showing a very young Thor and Loki.
