This battle is colloquially known as the "turning point" of the American Revolution. It was a series of two battles fought just south of Saratoga, New York. These battles were won by the colonists, and were extremely important as they won the foreign assistance America needed to win the war. After these battles, the war just went downhill for the British, indicating the impending victory for the colonists.
