In 1513, Niccolò Machiavelli wrote the first copy of The Prince (Il Principe), but the first printed version didn't get published until 1532, after Machiavelli had died. The Prince is claimed to be one of the first works of modern political philosophy. He uses a general theme of glory and survival.
