Funk originated in African-American communities in the mid 1960s. They created a new dance-able form of music through a mix of soul, jazz, as well as rhythm and blues. Funk brings a strong rhythmic baseline with an electric bass instrument and drums. It also consists of many rhythmic instruments. A famous funk artist is James Brown.
