This battle happened when Confederate general Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson decide that they wanted to attack the Union from the right, hoping to expose their flank. The battle took place Spotsylvania County, Virginia. the Confederates won the battle. However at the end of the battle Stonewall Jackson was killed by one of his own men who mistook him for an enemy. This battle led Robert E. Lee to try and invade the North which led to the Battle of Gettysburg.
