Formerly this could be a storeroom, above or below ground, but occasionally it may also have been for ‘soler’ or ‘sollar’; that is an upper room. 1557 <i>In the next chamber called the seller. One joned bedsted, one fether bed, one bolster</i>, etc, Thornton Bridge (SS26/99). It is possible that seller here was a mistranscription of sollar.
