President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the CCC with an executive order on April 5, 1933. The CCC was a work relief group formed during the Roosevelt presidency and worked to get young men into work and to solve environmental problems with their work. Young men needed jobs during the Great Depression and the CCC sought to solve that problem by enlisting all of them into corps around the country. This became known as one of the most important and influential pieces of FDR’s new deal. The CCC is also credited with allowing us to enjoy the abundant amounts of national parks and other state parks that we get to use today.
