|1963|As a result of the threat of all out nuclear war in the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Soviet Union and United States of America signed the Partial Test Ban Treaty in an attempt to stop the growth of nuclear weapons.
They agreed not to test nuclear weapons above ground.
