On May 4th, 1970, four Kent State University students were killed and nine were injured. This occured when there was a crowd gathered protesting the Vietnam war and members of the Ohio National Guard opened fired on the crowed. This caused a student-led strike which made colleges and universities around the country to close temporarily.
