12 июл 1790 г. - The Civil Constitution of the Clergy
Описание:
The Constitution civile du clergé was a law that was passed during the french revolution. The Assembly attempted to regulate and reorganise the Catholic Church in France, eliminating the corruption that occurred within the church. It also made the Catholic Church into a state religion, limiting the Church’s political influence. The law reduced the number of bishops and archbishops and required all the members of the clergy to swear an oath of loyalty to France as a nation.
This law was the government’s first major obstacle standing in the way of creating a new, post revolutionary society. It divided the clergy, created new enemies and led the kings to need to flee the country.
