At the time African Americans were facing a difficult time becoming educated properly because of severe segregation restrictions. Brown vs. Board of Education was the court case during the period of December 9th 1952 to May 17th 1954 that ruled unanimously that segregation in schools was unconstitutional and tried to outlaw it immediately, but it didn’t work well right away. This was a huge step towards achieving equality between African Americans and whites and also breaking ground toward the social injustices occurring during this time. The Little Rock Nine were victims of this court ruling and weren’t allowed right away to attend a racially segregated school until President Eisenhower had to intervene.
