The Mormons are not considered a utopian community but rather an entirely new religion, and/or some Mormons consider themselves a Christian denomination. Joseph Smith made the claim that he had received a new revelation from God. Smith then translated this new revelation into what is now known as the Book of Mormon, completed in 1827.
