Rosa Parks, born on February 4th, 1913, was an activist in the civil rights movement. On December 1st, 1955, after a long day at work, Parks boarded a bus to return home. She paid her fare and sat in an empty seat in the first row of seats that were reserved for blacks. Quickly, all of the white-only seats were full and the bus driver demanded that she and 3 other blacks give up their seats. As Parks refused, the driver called the police and arrested her.
