Uprising of the extreme left, aiming to create a Communist state in Germany after the abdication of the Kaiser and declaration of a German Republic. The Weimar government called on the Freikorps, who squashed the rebellion and arrested and killed the leaders, Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht.
