Description: This may have been one of the worst battles for the American side. This battle ended on a good note of the Americans burning down the city of New York so that the British could not settle there. There was also Nathan Hale who was killed for the liberty of his nation ( this is the new statue at American Heritage High School).
Significance:
1. This event did affect children and woman because as the Americans destroyed homes they had to evacuate the patriots from the flames.
2. This event also shows opposition to God's work because when Nathan Hale was hanged he said he would die for freedom. This was a martyrdom just like Joseph Smith for standing up for something that is right.
3. This loss was due to events prior to this one such as not having enough soldiers or not having enough boats to attack the British boats that attacked the fort.
