Bones = oracle bones, which were used to make predictions

Fortune-tellers would write a question on the bone then heat it up and interpret the splits and cracks that would form on the bone. Sometimes they'd write the answer to the question on the bone too, and even events that happened after.

These are really important because they tell historians about what they thought about and even actual historical stuff
