-agreement that neither NSDAP/Catholic church would interfere in what the other did

-false promises by Hitler - later legislation caused "gradual erosion" of Catholic rights e.g. education, press, youth groups

-church supported NSDAP anti-communist beliefs

-persuaded Zentrum/BVP to capitulate to NSDAP (voluntary dissolution)

-idea of "coordination" - NSDAP ultimately wanted subjugation of religious institutions

-church didn't provide organised resistance to regime (individual priests speaking out, & usually only against Nazi interference with church)
