In Johnny Depp v Amber Heard, Virginia judge says she hopes to have a ruling in next three weeks about whether libel battle continues or will be dismissed. Heard is arguing that UK ruling last year has settled issue whether he's a wife beater.

The UK may have reputation as a tourist hot spot for libel plaintiffs, but the unusual posture of this case has Depp arguing he had little choice but fight there. Then again, while US courts sometimes recognize foreign judgments, this would be first time ever in libel context.
