The Shi'ar create the Phoenix Force, a sentient embodiment of the Power Cosmic, to combat Galactus. The two do battle and Galactus is wounded but eventually overcomes the Force, which is greatly depowered. It lashes out at the Shi'ar, causing even further destruction.
