25 янв 2011 г. - Egyptian revolution begins
Описание:
Youth groups around the nation of Egypt initiate marches, occupations, non-violent civil resistance, acts of civil disobedience, and strikes on the annual "National Police Day" intending to protest police brutality and corruption. The groups demanded the overthrow of Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak in the final few years of his term.
The revolution ends the following month with Mubarak's resignation, seeing 846 deaths, over 6,000 injuries, and the burning of over 90 police stations across the country. The elections that follow lead to the assumption of power by Islamist Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood, a Sunni Islamist organization founded by a schoolteacher in 1928. The group existed to teach the illiterate and build schools/hospitals, eventually transitioning into politics with the goal of ridding Egypt of British control and establishing sharia law.
