Following a threat by Libyan dictator Muammar al-Qaddafi (pictured) to kill protestors, US President Barrack Obama, with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces, leads a coalition of members to protect Libyan citizens resulting in the assassination of Qaddafi by rebel forces.

Russia and China criticize this intervention as an overreach of interference in a sovereign country, leading to their undermining of humanitarian efforts in future intervention, such as with Syria.
