After an eldritch coalition decimates his village, Zod goes on the warpath and returns to the Servants of The Great Devourer and kills everyone present. With his last breath the leader invokes eldritch power and curses Zod to suffer for eternity. From then on Zod begins his quest to obtain all knowledge and snuff out those who would misuse it.
