Tokugawa Period 1603 CE - 1867 CE The Tokugawa period was the final period of traditional Japan. Some call it the pinnacle of Japanese art as it flourished during this period. It was a time of peace, political stability, and economic advancement under the shogunate. However, with that peace came strict practices to maintain social order.
