During WWll the Communist and Nationalist parties came together in an uneasy truce. This was because they both feard life under a Japanese rule and despised foreign powers invading China. The Japanese committed many atrocities during its invasion of China, one of the most notable and horrific of these is the Nanjing Massacre. Japanese report around 142,000 deaths was as Chinas says there were 340,00 deaths. The Nationalist and Red army waged a guerilla war on Japan until its surrender. The Japanese were forced to leave all the land they had gained during WWll. There were an estimated 20 million people killed from Japanese efforts over half were from China alone. China, however, says that almost 35 million people were killed or injured from 1931 to 1945.
