Qing Dynasty (1 apr 1636 anni – 12 feb 1912 anni)
Descrizione:
After the Ming dynasty fell, the Manchus, a nomadic people from north of China, came into China and founded a new dynasty which ruled until 1911. The Manchus were able to conquer China, both due to their military’s power and due to China’s weakened state. The Manchus preserved their identity by outlawing intermarriage between Manchus and Chinese and by restricting the Chinese from being able to learn Manchurian and travel to Manchuria. The Manchus also forced the Chinese to shave their heads and facial hair in a typical Manchu-style, forcing them to submit to the Manchus. During the reigns of Kangxi and Qianlong, the dynasty was at its height, placing an emphasis on Confucianism, expanding the dynasty, and supporting the people of the dynasty. The Confucian civil service exam played a similar, and arguably more important, role in the Qing dynasty as it did in previous dynasties. (4.2)(4.3)
