Shang Dynasty - Oracle Bones (11 sett 1750 anni a. C. – 13 dic 1730 anni a. C.)

Descrizione:

1. During the Shang dynasty, kings, when confronted with a questions about their rule, often went to oracles. An oracle is a person who the gods and goddesses relay messages through. Describe the process of how oracles received these messages from the gods though oracle bones:
To ask a question a holy man would make a statement, then press a hot needle against the back of the oracle bone, which was made from turtle shells or the shoulder blade of a cow. The heat would make the bone crack. The pattern of the crack would believed to be a message. Then the holy man or king would translate it. The holy man might then carve the message on the oracle bone. Today, these reveal information about life during the Shang Dynasty.
As stated in the above question, Shang kings went to oracles to ask about certain aspects of their rule. What do you think are two questions that a king would ask an oracle during this time period?
1. Is tomorrow a good day for a hunt?
2. Where should I build my next city?
