There are so many places to begin and end when summing up Britain’s contemporary period. For starters, Britain has a war culture. Britain has experienced a total of five wars just during the contemporary period and that doesn’t include battles not as big & those fought by British troops elsewhere in between the years of 1945 and now in 2019.

The British culture during the early contemporary period used to be predominantly conservative, especially when concerning public attitudes about sex and marriage. An example of that would be how Abortions use to be illegal but that is no longer the case.

During this period, the British have gone through a total of three recessions the latest being in 2009. As time progressed, they became extremely industrialized and technologically advanced. Unfortunately, the industrialization led to pollution.

Many good things also came out of Britain during this time such as The Beetles, tea and David Beckham. Writers that contributed to the contemporary British literature are J. K. Rowling, Kay the writer of Trumpet and poets such as Heaney.

During this period, England to be exact has only been under the rule of the royal family members George VI and Elizabeth II. In all Britain has birthed many talented artist, musicians and Architects which in turn has boosted their entertainment industry and economy due to a rise in tourism.
