The first Bubonic Plague pandemic began following the “Little Ice Age”, a time when global temperatures dropped, crops died, and famine became common. The disease spread due to Mongol military campaigns and trade routes, infecting people in Asia and Europe. The plague majorly diminished population and had social and economic effects on the places it affected, such as artisans demanding higher wages because they were so high in demand after the plague took the lives of many of them.
