This period is the last period of Egypt with native Egyptian rulers. From this period on, Egyptian culture begins to diminish. Tantamani gives up on his attempt to conquer lower Egypt in 664 BC. Persia conquers Egypt in 525 BC, but in 404 BC Amyrtaeus is able to get rid of the Persians. Victory is short lived, as the Persians reconquer Egypt in 343 BC.
