The Battle of Berlin was the last major battle in Europe during WW2. This battle resulted in the surrender of the German army and the suicide of Adolf Hitler, as well as the Soviet's victory. The battle was primarily fought between the German Army and the Soviet Army. However, the Soviet army vastly outnumbered the Germans. The battle began on April 16 the day Soviets attacked German forces along the Oder River near Berlin. They quickly defeated the German forces outside Berlin and advanced on the city. The Soviets began bombing Berlin on April 20 and worked their way around the city so that the Soviet Army surrounded the city. After seeing this, Hitler realized that he was going to lose this battle. By April 30, the Soviets quickly took action and were approaching the center of the city and the Germans were running out of ammunition. At this point, Hitler admitted defeat and committed suicide. After the death of Hitler, the German soldiers attempted to break out of the city. On May 2nd, the German generals inside Berlin surrendered to the Soviet army.
