This period of time is also known as the age of reason, people would switch from faith to reason and many intellectual advancements would be made. During this time many sciences were developed and advanced, the scientific method and the microscope would be responsible for many discoveries and growth in the field of biology, calculus, chemistry, taxonomy and many other sciences were introduced and improved with time. The understanding of life and the universe and why things are the way they are would also be analyzed and philosophers and scientists. John Lock played a major role in this, he introduced his philosophy on the rights and freedoms of man and the basic ones we all deserve and also promoted the idea of a democracy and consent of the governed. Ideas of how the government should be structured and the branches which should be present were also introduced. During this period of time aside from the scientific advancements, the declaration of rights of man, the American constitution and the declaration of independence are all historical events that would forever improve the way that the society would operate and progress.

Classical liberalism grew substantially during this period of time. The new ideas introduced and publicized by philosophers helped change the way people a think and question everything, along with the major events with during the American, french and industrial revolution promoted most of the principles of individualism which we mainly speak on today. Principles such a private property, rule of law, competition, economic freedom and self interest would've been all promoted during and by the end this time period. The ideology of individualism would grow more than it ever did during the Enlightenment period.
