Copernicus was a Polish astronomer who popularized the heliocentric theory, including how the earth revolves around the sun, as well as the earth rotating on its axis. Through these beliefs which he backed with evidence, he caused people to speculate about the formerly accepted theory's of Ptolemy and Aristotle.
