The English Civil War primarily started because the Parliament and King Charles I couldn't come to an agreement regarding who had/ should have the most power, this being the reason on why it falls under the AP Theme of states and other institutes of power. It was very significant because such disagreement not only led to a civil war, but they also took power away from the King and gave more power to the Parliament.
