It's not exactly known when the beginning and end of the American Revolution was, but it is certain that it was from the years 1775 to 1783. The American Revolution started because of the battles at Lexington and Concord. This was a war between colonists and Britain and it is what helped the colonist gain their freedom. One of the men who was apart of starting the American Revolution was Patrick henry.
